Hey Catriona,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! I agree with you that LinkedIn is the best way to network professionally. I have gotten a lot of job leads, new information, and new friends in my related industry through this platform. A fun fact, Im in the business program at UVic, and we have a class dedicated to making our LinkedIn up to industry standard so we are more likely to make real connections and secure job leads faster! I really enjoyed how you compared Gen Z learning online safety, for example, not talking to strangers. However, we are doing it right now as we haven’t met yet. I am responding to your work. I never really thought of it as a “safety” concern, but that is one of the first things I remember adults reiterating to our generation as we grew up alongside technology.

Hi Abou!
I love your ideas; thank you for sharing! I agree with your idea that the motives for using social networks are just as different from person to person. I use it for business and self-expression, but even if another person is using it for the same reason, how we do so might be completely different too! Something I am wondering after reading that part of your post, have you found you can tell someone’s motive for using social media / social networks by looking at their profile, activity, or previous posts? I forgot to consider that things aren’t entirely deleted after you press the “delete” button on these social platforms. I remember being told this when the internet was new, but the world has forgotten to remind people about it. I am curious as to how children growing up are being warned about the threats or dangers that these platforms provide and what is different compared to when I (Gen Z) was growing up alongside technology.
